I don’t know where you live but round here if you want to raise chickens you gotta first buy some chicken quota (I am serious).
So you are in the hole before a bird lays its first egg.

They are? When did that happen? For the last 15 years it’s been 23 year old ‘senior devs’
Farming is only fun if you already have enough money that you don’t actually have to farm if you didn’t want to.
Otherwise it’s hard work for low pay that is very hard to buy yourself into if you weren’t born with some land.
The inference part of these products is comparability cheap. The training has been the expensive part generally which is what drives the cost.
You know what’s funny?
I use AI to develop software. However when I’m looking for libraries to do things if I see a CLAUDE.md file I have to look and see when it was added and hold it against the library if it’s early in the history.
It’s like prewar steel.
I also recognize it’s hypocritical.
K3S sorta makes sense in an enterprise environment but for the small one box use case it’s overkill and a pain to work with for little extra gain.
If insomnia is working for you I wouldn’t change just for the sake of it. If insomnia starts to get in your way or you want to get out of something that is VC backed before the enshitification really takes hold I would consider it.
I have not.
Though honestly I rarely use these types of tools as a back end dev.
For my own code I’m likely to use curl or maybe fetch depending.
The times I do reach for these it’s usually someone else’s API that I’m looking it. If they offer an openapi spec I can import then I will.
Bruno > Insomnia
Dropped insomnia after it started to ask me to login and collaborate on things
To be fair a lot of these things are js. I could probably write a new one faster than I could understand the existing code base.
As mentioned elsewhere in this thread it won’t matter either way unless tested in court and that will never happen for most companies.
The ability to control your own lighting, that’s how I know this image is AI

I do? I don’t love Android TV but I only have so much time to fight to the good fight with shit.
I would like a less smart tv but I don’t want to by a 7 year old Nvidia Shield and suffered paralysis by analysis trying to decide on on an Android TV box.
So here we are, I use jellyfin on a smart TV
That’s not how it works and you know it.
Here, they invest in my comment and pay for it with stocks of their comment, then I loan you money to buy their comment backed by my new position in their comment.
We all then announce this massive growth in our comments, say AI at the end and line goes up, we all make loads.
You misspelled ASML
It’s personal home page and I don’t care if they retconed it
You would be surprised how far that type of thing can get you when the team is small and experienced.
It tends to explode when you hit a certain number of people or you replace a senior with a junior who promptly explodes the thing.
Bunch of people complaining about electron in this thread but I’m happy it exists.
Without electron you would get way fewer Linux apps and often no GUI to go with them.
The RAM usage is high sometimes but I have 128gb and unused RAM is wasted RAM. I don’t care how much something is using until it starts to swap or gets oom.
Nah, I could afford nice shit but I’m still using a ubiquity edge router 8 from 10 years ago.
There is probably something to be said that there is an in between to those two extremes. The “my network is made of a Hodgepodge of shit my employer threw out that still seems to work and brand new things I replaced because I had to”
Yeah but since you didn’t write it you won’t remember you generated it and you’ll just have the LLM spit something else out the next time you need it.
