Reddit@lemmy.world•Realizing how much I dislike awards now that I don't see them all the time
1 yearWhen reddit permanently banned me, they send me my 850k karma in the form of little pellets of some strange material. Now I have a big trash bag of mystery pellets — the fruit of all my commenting labor.
I guess one option could be don’t make a commitment you don’t have time to fulfill.
Let the voting system do its job of crowdsourcing the suppression of unhelpful content.
When I was on reddit it was just a fact that there’d be a pile of trash accumulated at the bottom of each thread, made of comments that were stupid or toxic and collapsed because their score was negative. That layer of shit at the bottom was well-hidden and didn’t interfere with the productive discussion happening above.

2 yearsYeah they’re called moderators
Even if it is docker it’s still a bash script or something in the container right? Or are people referring to the docker CLI directly changing DNS records somehow?
My best guess is the reason to involve docker would be if you already have a cluster of containers as part of the project. Then you can have a container that does nothing but manage the DNS.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit keeps taking down this post after it hit 50k upvotes. Other subreddits, like linkedinLunatics keep reposting.
2 yearsMaybe they think a child abuser who has just received a beating is more likely, not less likely, to go on and abuse children.
Think about it: do you really think a man who beats his children is gonna be a better dad after he gets beaten up?
Violence is a complex subject, and people’s instinct to solve problems with beating up people they’re frustrated with is a curse of humanity, no matter how obvious a solution it may seem in the moment.
Some people, lots of people actually, and with good reason, think that violence begets violence.
sewing is pretty fab eh?

Reddit@lemmy.world•What Are the Various Strategies to Wean Yourself Off Reddit?
2 yearsI got permabanned for inciting violence against places when I sarcastically told another commenter that their idea to pour concrete over new housing construction sites would surely solve the housing crisis.

George’s problem was that he was merely a king, and not a god
When I worked for Lowe’s recently, I had the distinct impression the company was trying to evolve to be more similar to Amazon, including:
- Less staff in stores
- Less inventory in stores; logistics to be handled from independent central locations
- More focus on online sales
To me the idea of trying to become more similar to a giant like Amazon is foolish.
It’s like complaining that you never get to step into the ring with Mohammad Ali.

It can’t fail in javascript ways that require specific sequences of code to be written, if those sequences of code aren’t in the range of output of the Typescript compiler.
Just use javascript and don’t try to add {} to [].
