I wouldn’t have agreed with you a week ago but I think you’re right. I live in Loudoun county Virginia which is quite blue. My oldest kid who is 15 asked me if I was really voting for Harris, because he and his friends like Trump more. Then my second oldest who is 11 also told me he likes Trump more than Harris.

My family is Dutch Canadian so it’s not like anyone in my family was speaking positively about Trump. Quite the opposite actually.

They are getting all these ideas online and conservatives are absolutely crushing the digital landscape with podcasts and YouTube. They are making connections with the youth that the dems just aren’t offering right now.

Lemmy is basically my /r/all and I find use for Reddit when it comes to niche subs. Maybe one day Lemmy will be useful for that but it’s nowhere close to that level right now. There’s also a ton of fucking clowns on Lemmy as well, and you all know who I’m talking about

I was really bad. So bad that I only played archery and even got archery class over level 30. My brother always tops the leaderboards and he came over one day and showed me how to play. Basically, make sure you’re in third person and we use either the battle axe or executioners axe. I’m now regularly at the top of the boards.

Palworld is a lot of fun. Much different than a lot of survivals since I was never into Pokémon. Enshrouded I played on release for a little bit. Gonna sound weird but I the building turned me off a bit and the combat i felt a little awkward. I know a lot of people love it so it’s like a me thing.

Icarus is really cool. I refunded it initially because I felt it was janky but they have released an update every single week since launch. Picked it up again at the start of summer and I have like 300+ hours in it. It’s so good.

I bought it the very day it came out for no real reason and fell in love with it. Put about 500 hours in it before any updates happened. Played a little since then but those higher tier biomes are pretty brutal. Gonna wait until it’s 1.0 before jumping in again. Best $20 ever

Survival games are my jam. Colony builders and Chivalry 2 otherwise.

What are your favorite survivals? If I went with a top 3 it would probably be Icarus, Valheim and 7D2D

Valheim and Satisfactory are masterclass. GOAT simulator is good for 6 year olds. Raft was kind of dull be entertaining with multiplayer. V Rising I didn’t really care for, but haven’t played since it was first available on Steam

As for Reddit gold, it was introduced in 2010. But what relevance does gold have to content? It seems pointless and neither adds nor detracts from the anything other than people’s bank accounts.

Politics themselves have changed a lot over the past 15 years - I’m not sure if that has anything to do with the sub. Hell, even I changed from Republican to Democrat in that time frame.

I still use old.reddit and it’s pretty much been the exact same except for a few ads that RES takes care of anyway.

Definitely agree with the AMAs. That’s not going to change no matter the platform however and not exclusive to Reddit.

I was never part of any of those controversial subs like fat people hate or watch people die.

Just stuck to regular subs like news, fitness, some niche hobbies etc. If anything, the niche hobby subs got better since there was more people. Fitness did get overly moderated but I just moved to fitness over 30 sub instead and it was fine.

Some of the bigger subs became shit shows, but they were kind of like since their inception.

Firing Victoria was annoying since I think she did good AMA. Getting rid of third party apps is the biggest shittiest thing that I experienced which is why I came to Lemmy in the first place.

I’ve been on Reddit for 15 years and haven’t really noticed any shift for the most part. The only thing I find unbearable is the amount of bots and karma whoring reposting that goes on. The culture I feel is the same.
