That’s pretty much what I wrote, just lacking the sarcasm.

Anyone > 65 should be considered senile until proven different. After all, it’s not kids that get scammed out of their retirement funds.
That’s not my opinion, but it might lead to changes.

Programming@programming.dev•LLM Idolatrine: Why no one wants your agentic PRsEnglish
4 monthsHumans are also lazy. I won’t make 5,000 line changes just because I feel like refactoring while adding a field to a query. A LLM might, and I don’t want to read all of that.

5 monthsI bought a used mini PC and then set up Proxmox. This little thing is a lot more capable than the Raspberry I used before and it runs my complete home lab, excluding my NAS.

Programming@programming.dev•How GitHub monopoly is destroying the open source ecosystemEnglish
5 monthsYes, and for most of us it’s easy to do so, but I’m not going to explain a noob how to add new repositories. I mean, I did, and I will do in the future, but it’s not my favorite task to do.
I realized my comment was a bit ambiguous. I meant repositories like for Maven, NPM, or package managers. Having stuff on GitHub makes it a lot easier.

I think we’re using AI very differently. I only use it for stuff I really can’t figure out myself and then it needs 15 runs before it closes the loop and recommends the first thing that didn’t work. I don’t use it for everyday tasks, because I see how my performance and capabilities drop. AI is mostly frustrating for me.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•My code is self-documentingEnglish
6 monthsI inherited a code base probably written by a squirrel, and the first thing I did was to write documentation on infrastructure, business logic, architecture, deployment and whatever. I had to read everything anyways, because the guy handing it over had no idea what it did and left the company shortly after. It’s fine now, but that path was horrible.
