  • You’ll need to make a licensing deal, like Google and OpenAI have done, to use Reddit content for model training and other commercial purposes.

So it’s not actually about protecting anyone’s data, or making the internet a nicer place to be at all, Huffman is just mad that they’re potentially missing out on more revenue streams. I can’t say I’m surprised

  • It sounds like even though Reddit still is the only place that has these hyper specific communities, no one is actually engaging with you there, and you’ve apparently made numerous different profiles you now have to keep track of to avoid having your information monetized and this is causing mods to suppress your posts. Do I have that right?

So, why are you still bothering? Why use it at all if you can’t get any answers there and you’ve had to make managing 100 different profiles a part time unpaid job basically?

Why come tell Lemmy about it? Half the people here right now are here because Reddit is complete garbage now. This is not breaking news.

Reddit is not going to get better. However bad it is now will seem like a happy memory in a years time. Just let it go dude.

  • There’s that and the fact that almost every time Reddit is mentioned in the news now it’s about them actively trying to drive away users with idiotic new “features” lol

  • It still amazes me that there are people on Reddit who are upset about this but still keep using Reddit lol!

Even if they’re “addicts” it’s not like there’s no where else to go! That’s like an alcoholic finding out that their favorite brand of whiskey is laced with lead and arsenic but still continuing to drink it instead of just changing brands!

I guess there are still some people there who naively think that it’s all somehow going to go back to what it used to be, but at this point it mostly seems like pure laziness

  • I’ve never used an Apple TV, but my smart TV is a Roku and it does most of the things you’ve described. I use Crunchyroll and Tubi and a few other streaming apps including Apple’s. I use Prime Music and it has like 99% of the albums I want to listen to. Obviously it doesn’t have Apple Arcade, but I mostly just play games on my phone anyway. I even put a Roku box on an old CRT TV that I use sometimes for watching older shows in SD format lol! I don’t know if this is the type of answer you were looking for but I hope it’s helpful.
