As the title suggests, how do you manage your DBs for docker services.
Do you spin a new DB for every new docker cluster or do you have a centralized DB that is accessible to the docker clusters.
What are the pros and cons of both method?
For the moment, I spin a new DB for every services as I feel it is easier to backup the service in case of a problem.
The readme concerning the LLM/AI is downright terrible. Which portion were generated with LLM? There is no scope for what the LLM is used, so can we assume that everything is vibe-coded at this point?
I never really used Visual Studio. The few times I had to, it felt like a bloated VSCode.
IDE in general are not that good.
VSCode has a lot of of expansions, enabling a developer to stay in the same environment for any language they code in.
So if you have a multi-language setup, you can do everything in the same IDE.
I work with embedded firmware, and let me tell you that VSCode is miles ahead from manufacturer tools.
I personally don’t use VSCode because microcontroller manufacturer tools usually come with a repeatable easy to install environment, so I can easily handoff the projects to my clients.
But if you ship code and don’t have to ship the environment, VSCode is a good allrounder that can do pretty much anything.
With that said, use VSCodium instead. At least, it removes the analytics from the IDE.
If you dual boot, you need to keep the windows partition on a separate disk, otherwise it will most likely fuck your boot partition.
They can’t sustain the loss-lead trying to capture the market.
I run opnsense, so I need to dump pi-hole. But I don’t have the energy right now to do that.
Pi-Hole was pretty straightforward at the time and I did not look back since then. Annoying, but easy.
That’s my case. I send every new subdomain to my nginx IP on pi-hole and then use nginx as a reverse proxy
Tell that to someone starting out and look at their deer in the headlight face. Then you’ll realize that the point went over your head.
Unfortunately, like many jobs in the past, ours is changing.
I don’t have a crystal ball, so I don’t know what the future hold.
All we can do is be informed about LLMs and futur techs, produce the best outputs with the constraints we have and hope for the best.
Keep your skills up to date, and hopefully find a job where LLMs aren’t shoved down your throat. Or pivot towards something else.

I don’t hold a lot of hope for the next few years. It’s gonna be rough. All we can be is ready to the best of our abilities.
You know why the code is wrong because you have the experience to see where the issue is and what it is.
If you’ve learned coding with LLMs from the start, you won’t acquire the experience needed to be able to tell what is wrong.
I’ve worked with a client that tried to generate code for a HCI bluetooth device, trying to recreate the full Bluetooth stack, instead of picking the right product from the start, with a working stack.
And that was a client that had technical knowledge, just not for Bluetooth and HCI.
And if you try to tell the AI what’s wrong, it will create bullshit code until it kinda works, adding more issues along the way.
I’m sure that AI will replace coders one day, but LLMs aren’t AI and they are neat ready to write decent, complex code.
My reason asking is because there are other scheme I feel are more adequate for non relational data, but this isn’t my domain and I barely dabbled in that, so that’s worth absolutely nothing.
But your point about the data being used later makes a lot of sense and I didn’t think about that. Down the road, someone will ask you to create links to your data and if you already have a DB, then you don’t have to change the whole infrastructure to accommodate that. You can create new schemes and already have a somewhat functional access to it.

Side tracking here : to me, it seems like every DB is relational, no?
What use case would a DB used and not be relational? With my minimal experience in DB, I haven’t seen any other use cases than a relational DB.

I can find an arduino nano clone for 3$. There are use case for ultra cheap electronics like that.
You can get an arduino clone for a lot cheaper than you can get an rpi clone.
Sometimes, you just need something very simple and a cheap arduino is the right choice.
Arduino is also a lot more user friendly for newcomers.
It’s a shame that Qualcomm will be the end of it.
Arduino has its place for self-taught hobbyists. For a lot of projects, a simple code is more than enough, so there is no point of going into the more advanced mcu like esp32 or stm32.
Cleaning other people’s mess is okay for a while. But making a career out of it is too much for me.
I do firmware for embedded systems and every mechanical, electronics or general engineering issue is shoved down in my court because it’s easier for people to take shortcuts in the engineering process and say “we’ll fix it in the firmware” since I can change code 100 times a day.
Slop is the embodiment of that on steroids and it will get old pretty fast.
The issue is how you responded to people in this thread ("read the Readme.md) and when reading the readme, it’s a vague answer as to how AI is used. Gives off vibe-coded
Scope out how exactly AI used and you will get way less issues.
But being condescending and then being dismissive gets you this reaction. Own the fact that you used AI, scope out how exactly it is used and be on your way.
