Of course. New Reddit has been a ridiculous travesty since the start, even with continued development and refinement. There are so many stupid and annoying things about it. It also has a lot of performance problems compared to the old UIs - not just slowness, but issues like the video player crashing or just stopping, and it doesn’t do that in old reddit. Also they try to restrict you and guide you to the app in ways that old reddit does not - saying a post is for mature audiences and you have to use the app, for instance. But then you can view it on old reddit with no problem.

Right. I think people just see the downvote and pile on. It’s easier than actually reading the post and figuring out the person’s demeanor and whether it’s sarcastic and so on. There are a few other dynamics about that. Some people look for people whose posts are downvoted so they can chide them, scold them, insult or argue with them. I have had comments that are originally misinterpreted or targeted for ideology that end up turning around, though. Sounding rational or clarifying in replies sometimes works, as long as the comment wasn’t too far down before other people actually read it. If you get a defensive or insulting attitude, though, there’s nothing people on reddit like downvoting more than that.

Some subs on Reddit are unpredictable. You may get totally different responses and it sometimes seem to depend what the first responses are. a couple of times I’ve made a post and the first answer is some sort of scolding “well you should’ve known better!”, And then everyone votes that up and the next five replies are the same… So I just deleted it, and reposted at a different time of day two days later, and the replies are helpful, sympathetic and supportive.

I feel like this got misinterpreted? If I’m not mistaken OP’s point is that reddit is intentionally censoring pro-Palestinian posts and controversy, not that the front page is now more quality.

No, the conclusion would be that they’re replying to me. However I’m quite certain Americans like that exist as well.

It’s taken me years and reading the explanations a dozen times to figure out what anyone involved even thought it was about.

I’ve been using reddit since 2008 and the idea of any conservative bullshit on there would have been really surprising before 2015. Overall though the amount of generic person stupidity has increased in the past few years. Not that all sports fans are like this, but often i get the stupidest reply from someone - like, close minded, blithely cruel about whatever topic - and look at their profile and the ONLY other thing they’ve commented on is sports.

There’s also the newer [ Removed by Reddit ] which means their admin mod team.

I haven’t checked out the BIOS yet. The weird thing is it’s inconsistent… sometimes it sleeps perfectly, other times wakes immediately after shutting down. Just tested it now for instance and sort of like “hey mechanic my car makes this weird noise… oh uh, it’s not doing it now” it slept normally so there wasn’t anything to observe.
