It could be bots. Have you noticed google searches inserting “reddit (search term)” in your search suggestions?
Google’s crawlbots alone are constantly scanning your answers in reddit to feed their algorithm.
That’s just one search company, not including search rivals like MS/Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.
Also AI bastards crawling all over reddit to feed their training databases.

As a follow up, possible Iranian malware be damned, this turned out to be the smoothest running version of the game that I tried.
BitDefender didn’t find anything, but of course that doesn’t mean anything after you have the app installed.
Others that I tried had Chinese stuff on bootup, and stuttered when running.
I’m of that generation where the Internet meant that “information needs to be free” but I’ve come around to paying for, aka supporting, (what is IMO) quality journalism and opinion (I’m not necessarily just referring to the Atlantic), especially my local news.

Plague Inc. comes in at the top of a search in the Play Store for “pandemic” but I understand that it’s kind of a reverse concept of the Pandemic boardgame: You try to wipe out those pesky humans by developing an incurable virus.
I might be inclined to give it a try if I can’t find a decent implementation of Pandemic.
I see that the official Matt Leacock’s Pandemic boardgame adaptation on Android was abandoned by Asmodee, allegedly due to various quality problems.
There are a few versions floating out there in various apk archives, and even something called “Pandemic” in the Google Play store by some outfit named Seadex that I have no idea whether is anything related to the original boardgame.
