  • I am considering creating multiple accounts to upvote this even more. Ok just kidding, but seriously if this is at all technically feasible it is by far my most missed feature. I often used my upvote history as a sort of very loose bookmarking system. I realize I can save posts, but I usually reserved that for extra special posts that I really needed to save.

The way Lemmy is set up I’ve actually struggled to find a post I upvoted just a couple hours prior. It can be very frustrating.

  • Frankly that stuff is already a huge problem and people should be louder about it. So many large companies want you to wade through 30 layers deep menus if AI chat bots before they’ll let you talk to an actual human to get assistance with a service you pay for. It’s just going to get worse and worse.

  • That’s not what the majority of people bitching that Sync is bad simply because it’s not FOSS would have you believe.

The controversy is just silly to me. I didn’t hesitate for a second to pay for the app. I’ve spent literally thousands of hours using Sync for reddit. $20 is nothing for that.

FOSS is great and all. But the attitude that everything should just be free no matter what is exactly why the internet turned into the data mining ad supported hellhole it is today. I am very willing to pay for things I spend time using. I honestly don’t understand thinking any other way.

  • Then you should use that, honestly.

For those of us who really like Sync, we really like Sync and are willing to pay for it. I’ve tried the other apps, they’re not bad but they aren’t as good. For me. Others may have different opinions and that is fine for them.

I’m not sitting here trying to tell everyone else that what they like doesn’t make sense. I’m just happy that what I like is now available. And I have no problem paying for it, considering how many hours of my life I have already spent using this app’s reddit version.

  • I hope they all succeed! Honestly I do.

It’s just that, well, I started using Sync morev than 10 years ago. Averaged 1.5-2 hours every single day since then. It’s very much home for me.

I’m very happy there are other choices and I’m very glad that some people prefer them. But once I learned Sync was coming to Lemmy it automatically earned first dibs on my loyalty.
