I have been using it as a daily driver since before it went beta. After the beta, I have found it quite stable. And recently it have been rock solid. There are still some things missing (like it would be nice with a calendar app, support for firmware upgrades and so on), and some things that are a bit rough. But overall I find it to be a quite good release, and since nothing comes close to their window management (the tiling implementation is really great) it compensates for any minor rough edges you might find.

Well, for specific licenses there are use cases for MPL, which is weak copy left. LGPL is trying to state that statical linking is not allowed, while MPL does. Also, EUPL have simmilar advantages over AGPL, plus that it have very clear defined legal juristiction. So, when it comes to specific licenses there are many reasons to use whatever licence you use. Just make sure you use a license that reflects your expectations.

These are good in a more hands on way, but it is hard there to understand the conceptual difference between MIT and EUPL. So, I deliberately didn’t go in to the details, since there are a lot of tools for that. I aimed for a higher level, since I find people often have missed that.

As someone that have worked in software for 30 years, and deplying complicated software, shared libraries is a misstake. You think you get the benefit of size and easy security upgrades, but due to deployment hell you end up using docker and now your deployment actually added a whole OS in size and you need to do security upgrades for this OS instead of just your application. I use rust for some software now, and I build it with musl, and is struck by how small things get in relation to the regular deployment, and it feels like magic that I no longer get glibc incompatibility issues.

Well, Perl is great for small scripts that works on large texts, that you process with regex. I still use Perl from time to time, for that kind of scripts. Also commandline, instead of awk/sed…

I learend it in the 90s, and was working on a large Perl codebase 2005 and a couple of years forward. And 20 years, it still started to feel dated, and 15 years ago it was just so out dated it hurt. So, starting to learn Perl 20 years ago would not have been great :) However, the things making Perl horrible, is pretty much threre in Python also with the addition of significant whitespace… so technically, going from Python to Perl might actually be a step in the right direction… Now, if you excuse me, I will hide behinde this huge rock for a while to let the incoming projectiles settle.

Had to test with Kagi also, leads with official documentation, after that tutorials and unofficial things. Nothing obviously irrelevant. The only thing with the Kagi results, was that there were a few very simmilar official documentation links (for different postgresql versions) at top. But, still good search results. Not sure why anyone is still using google, when there are quite a few better alternatives availale

A government is not more free just because it lacks any restrictions, about becoming a dictatorship. It is just less restricted at this point in time. To ensure a free society, there needs to be restrictions in place that ensures it stays free. The same applies to software.
