Right and I agree. All my recent hardware purchases in the last 3 years have all been AMD.

I have SOME Nvidia hardware right now and I’m sure other people do too. Unfortunately, AMD is lagging behind in some key scenarios that will hopefully be resolved in the near future. AMD knows this and doesn’t compete in the high end currently (outside of Datacenter).

I do like to think that AMDs apus are the future and the death of the discrete GPU is imminent. I have been looking at things like the 395 AI MAX (poorly named CPU) for some testing but right now it doesn’t make sense to hop platforms financially.

Just my two cents. I personally own a lot of different gaming devices running different platforms. I don’t have an allegiance to one particular platform because::I just think they’re neat::.

I don’t think I’m unique in this case either. In reality it’s always been “use the right tool for the right job” kinda scenarios.

With that being said, open source platforms have broken into the scene in a big way recently. I built a bd790i/radeon7800xt system a little while back and it has become my primary gaming platform. It runs Bazzite and it’s always just ready to go with most (if not all) of my steam games running.

I basically use windows on machines running Nvidia hardware. Even on my workstation where Nvidia has basically decided their chosen platform is WSL2 and chosen not to embrace the larger Linux ecosystem completely (yet).

I do have a test box that constantly runs bazzite-dx where I am testing Nvidia compatibility. It’s getting REALLY GOOD. however I just had a set back where Bambu studio flatpaks do not render 3d objects anymore. Flatpaks integration with Nvidia is a major pain sometimes as it can break with driver updates. I’m really new to this but fltapak needs the driver as well as the base system and then the flatpacked application needs to support it as well? It seems cumbersome. I don’t have this problem with AMD GPUs.

I just want to make sure I read this correctly. It says that if you’re a Plex plass holder already that remote streaming changes won’t affect your service. This means that if I have the lifetime subscription and host my own server than users whom have not payed for Plex pass can continue to access this server without issue correct?

That’s 240$ for three drives without warranty though… Nevermind I’d prefer to buy two new Toshiba X300 new for 210$ a piece and forget the headache and get the warranty.

I’m at the stage where you stop complaining about videogames and you just stop buying them.

I’ve realised that all the people who worked in the videogames industry that made it special have either sold out, dropped out, or aged out at this point. Keep your expectations low my friends.

Hi!I see a lot of great suggestions here but I was just looking at your chart and I think just one fundamental change would benefit you.

Think of your switch as the “core” of your network. Everything should connect to that switch (computers, access points, firewall) for your best experience/performance.

If you go with unifi, you should know that their switches are managed but if you intend to self host anything, you’re actually going to want the managed features!

I think the pricing is fair too. I’m just doing some quick math.

• 24k users on day one

• if they all paid 16$ for a year that would be $384k a year

• if just 1% of that user base buys sync for a year that’s 38k a year ($3200 before any taxes or other costs)

• potential donations to lemmy (2 of the $16 dollars) cuts down to $2800 a month

• cost for infrastructure to run the app is unknown but it comes out of that $2800 for the app subscribers.

In this 1% case, that is not a lot of money.

With an app of this calibur, if there are more subscribers we would see rapid growth as it’s still in its early days an needs more subscribers. Apps stagnate when they hit their growth limit.

I think you’ll get the most on your return on investment if you choose to pay. SYNC is a great app and I will gladly pay for continued development.

Note: I also do think that ads are imorral. If sync made enough off subscribers to provide an experience without ads to free users I think it should be considered.
