There used to be a meme that the front page was entirely new every time you refreshed the page.

Same reason they nerfed the algorithm to change from having new posts on the front page every ~15 minutes, to keeping the same posts there all day long.

They engage in all the illegal cross site tracking of course, so perhaps they linked you to some other site they don’t like, like this one?

Could it perhaps be specific models that are no longer manufactured? I was checking out the price I could expect for one of my old PSUs and found that it was apparently a particularly well liked unit for some reason, and so it’s used price was a fair bit higher than expected.

Before 2016 posts moved extremely fast. There used to be a joke that the entire front page was new every time you refreshed it. After The_Donald figured out how to game their algorithm to dominate the front page, reddit took advantage of the opportunity to neuter the algorithm completely so that it was more advertiser friendly. Now the front page remains static for most of the day, so sponsored advertiser posts get more exposure.
