Linux@programming.dev•Arch-Based Omarchy 3.3 Brings AI Dictation Hibernation and Hyprland Fixes
4 monthsNo I don’t think I will. At first it looked cool, I don’t really care about DHH or whatever his agenda is, but I read about omarchy and what it was, and it did not look serious to me to install it and trust it.

I am using Fedora with Gnome on Wayland with an AMD gpu and have encountered the same issue. Someone found issues that should be fixed in the mutter 49.3 version, should probably be in Gnome 49.4 - Reddit comment

Linux@programming.dev•Microsoft's VS Code in Ubuntu's Snap Format Eats Up Disk Space Like Bloatware Even After Removal
5 monthsWell, it is worrying to some extent. One can use the computer normally if said problem is present, but it could hinder you in some ways. If you see your disk becoming abnormally large, you should probably check what’s taking so much space, in this case it was snap version of VSCode, but then snap is usually frowned upon. What can I say, the least you can probably do is stay informed if those things bother you, but then again it’s easy to find solutions on the internet if you can’t keep up.
I was only joking, because I’m only tired of this print joke java vs X. But I think you’re probably right, especially regarding the python deps and envs.
Does python run on 3 billion devices?
Those aren’t bugs tho, they’re arachnids, but I agree.
If only I had a penny each time a user told something doesn’t work when it shouldnt’ve.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The URL shortener that makes your links look as suspicious as possible
5 monthsI don’t use yt on my phone. I was actually interested what op put behind the link. I thought it would be a rickroll, but yk, I had to click it. I know, it hurts me too, seeing other people suffer so many ads. Also this is my newest phone and I don’t have the time to spend tinkering around ad free stuff.

6 monthsWhat does ‘arch-based’ mean? Isn’t it just arch with some scripts with aliases and some tools preinstalled?

Linux@programming.dev•You don't need Linux to run free and open source software
6 monthsNinite was a lifesaver each time I did a windows fresh install, until recently, but I think everyone knows what happened. My point is I never ran into any problems with Ninite and it saved me a lot of time back in the day.
edit: typo

Linux@programming.dev•Easiest way to change distros after having settled comfortably into one?
6 monthsI’m not 100% sure on how things work, but if Ubuntu does get ads on its desktop at one point, I’m almost certain that it won’t propagate to Mint.

Watchtower exists, but iirc it is not maintained anymore.
