This sounds like a very sane bit of both approach.

Support plugins so anyone can extend however they like, but integrate the most popular plugins into the software.

“Pls read wiki” is not very user friendly imo.

If a noob really shouldn’t use it, put a clear warning or something in the beginning och the installer process or clearly on the download page.

Expecting every potential user to go through your wiki is not reasonable. I am rarher comfortable with many distros, but I have only ever visited their wikis when stuff breaks.

I have read websites and been through the instellers for the distros many times though.

I’d say the simplicity, fully auto updates combined with the very low resource consumption is the USP.

Very hands off. Very lightweight.

Bazzite is stable and “just works” but it achieves that by being a bit less conventional under the hood. Great for gaming and general computing.

If you like tinkering around, you might want to pick something else though.

For gaming, Bazzite is the best, most hands off, set and forget distro I have tried. I would really recommend Bazzite.

Not sure if it runs Unreal Engine 5, but it has Lutris installed and configured by default, so if it is as other commenters claim, you should be good.

It also has Steam amd Heroic launcher pre-installed, so everything is just there ready to play.

One of my previous jobs required we updated our personal phones and ticked a box in a document every month so that the company chat app was “on a secure environment/device”.

I normally keep my phone up to date, but my employer shouldn’t be telling me what to do with my private phone. I removed the company chat app since I didn’t want to comply with them controlling my personal devices.

After that they couldn’t reach me after hours. Great. After about 6 months they allowed me to use the chat app on my private phone again without insight or control over it. It may sound petty, but I think it’s an important distinction.

I don’t doubt you could do it, but I’m rather looking for a reputable company providing it as a service. Not a random stranger on the internet 😄

I would recommend anyone to play competitive multiplayer games on Linux.

Competitive games, and specifically CS, has been my go-to for about 10 years (I am still shit tho). As you say, Valve will most likely not put anti-cheat that won’t work on Linux in it. But if they would do that, I would just not be playing CS anymore.

I play what I like, and if they would make the stupid choice to break it for my machine I guess they just don’t want me playing it any more. In that event, I guess I’ll just have to find something else to play.

Haven’t tried that distro specifically, but I have been gaming on Linux for at least 4 years now and Counter Strike is not a problem at all. It is my most played game and it works great for me on Linux mint.

I imagine running it on a distro that has a focus on gaming will only make it run even better and easier.
