Great point. I find it hilarious that every post in this comm that makes it to the front page has people complaining about the presence of the update, and it’s often the most upvoted comment. Your fb analogy is perfect.

Probably an unintentional mistake rather than a concious design decision. I think they used a transparent background instead of white, so it accidentally looks evil in night mode. To test, switch your phone out of night mode and see if it schanges the face to white along with the background.
You should take the poor guy to a vet. Desperate farts should not be neglected.
Even if the former’s 99%, Reddit does not give a shit as long as they collect the revenue.
This is basically Citizens United for Reddit, but substantially worse because at least with CU, they’re required to disclose donors. Reddit allows these awards to be bought anonymously, so you’re rarely able to understand who is doing the manipulation.
Mine is from 2007, and I’m at the same crossroads as you are.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit is reportedly suspending users for using third-party apps that spoof the official app
3 yearsPffffy. Spez isn’t the next Zuck. He’s not even Zuck we got at home. At best, he’s a poor photo copy at the bottom of the flea market bargain bin Zuck.
Voyager is the only option as far as I know. And unfortunately, it seems Apollo dev Christian Selig is not interested in converting Apollo to use Lemmy’s api at this time since he seems to ignore comments that suggest it.
That’s what I figured, and it’s one of the reasons that I’ll definitely pay for an ultra sub when an iOS Lemmy app arrives.
I would pay sync prices for Apollo ultra if it were to convert to Lemmy.
The only thing missing for me in Voyager is push notifications. Anyone know how to make that happen on iOS?
But as much as I like voulyager, if Apollo converted to a Lemmy app tomorrow, I would def pay sync prices no ads.
“Userbase / 10 THOUSAND” is more like it.
Reddit has 1.6 billion monthly active users, and Lemmy had 62,000 in July.

3 yearsOk, but how is that different from any other ad-supported media?

3 yearsIs it though? It’s the price of a meal at a moderately priced restaurant or less than 2 months subscription of a streaming service, and you only ever have to pay for it once.
You could just stop subscribing to the Reddit community on Lemmy if you are so tired of these sorts of Reddit-centric posts on Lemmy.
And here’s a screenshot of a hilarious comment that I found in the modcoord discord

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit Official App: "I am able to take mod actions on a sub I'm not a mod in."
3 yearsSeems like Reddit’s got some of the best devs building out those much promised mod tools.
Go here and follow the instructions to install a lemmy.world web app complete with shortcut that feels pretty close to the UI of Apollo.
For me it was Apollo. Still shocking that reddit just shut down Joey’s API access in the middle of talks. What a despicable company they have become.

But that’s a huge downside to most people.
