I guess OP is talking about smart TRVs (Thermostatic Radiator Valves).

I’ve been thinking of installing some myself, but this is ones of the things I’ve been worried about.

I also heard that SonOff makes some very silent ones (TRVZB).

I hope they open source it before dying (if they do end up going under)
