You don’t even need to patch the Android app called Red Reader. It works by default. Not super pleasing to look at, but it has always done the job. I think they managed to squeak by the API shutdown thing because they are headed toward blind users, but sighted users can use it too.

It’s not even a shadowban thing. I’ve noticed a lot of subs have hidden requirements for your post to show up in them. If you don’t have enough posts in the sub or your karma isn’t high enough, even if you’re not shadowbanned, your threads just straight up won’t show up… especially if you made a new account recently. But it doesn’t tell you that. It just lets you think that no one cared to look at your post.

I’ve noticed that some subs don’t seem to be this way and my threads will show up regardless of how often I’ve posted there and regardless of my overall karma.

Have you never searched for a problem where you wanted to hear actual people talk about the solution? If I don’t suffix it with “Reddit” I just get SEO spam/AI generated articles which may or may not actually be useful. Usually I want to know what real people think about the issue.

If someone blocks you, you can’t see their messages. Imo it’s dumb because it means you can tell who blocked you. In a sane situation, there shouldn’t be a way for people you’ve blocked to be able to tell that you’ve blocked them.

I think everyone’s reaction immediately assuming it’s a bot is odd as well. Everyone’s reasoning is just “you can tell by the way it is”. I’m just sitting here like uhhhh.

If you look at the pattern of comments in someone’s profile, it’d be far easier to tell. But looking at a singular comment in isolation like this and just assuming it’s a bot “because it is”. Ok?? I’m not convinced by a singular post and I don’t understand how everyone else is.

They don’t want to improve it. The app did exactly what Reddit wants…to service its users with the most amount of ads possible. Third party apps don’t do that, which is why they wanted them killed off.
