  • It might be the other way around too though… You might be thinking of buying something, because Facebook or google have convinced you that you need it

That said, I had to create an account in FB due to work and studies. I did some research and decided to run it only on a browser and use a seperate browser only for FB. Along with some strict privacy rules.

My account was flagged within 30 seconds of creation. They asked for a selfie ID that they got and they did a manual assessment but banned the account nonetheless for not following community guidelines

You can’t even read their community guidelines without accepting their cookie policy

  • So from my personal experience I have a few pointer

Don’t dualboot because you’ll keep switching to windows instead of finding solutions to your issues that you inevitably will encounter

There is no replacement to Photoshop but you can do mostly all things with Gimp. It is just different and you’ll need to figure out how. This in itself can be very frustrating because you know how to do a thing in Photoshop but will need to learn it again in Gimp. This is part of it though and imo worth the time. Just like when you learned Photoshop

You may need to use the terminal a few times when you start but in the long run when things are setup you rarely need it unless you really want to mess with things under the hood. For me, I haven’t used the terminal for well over a year

I switched to Mint 2 years ago

Be patient and use the forums or discord servers. And also be thankful and kind to people offering their help for free. Try to find a solution first, and if that does not work, give them as much information as possible when asking for a question. In Linux, find system info and export the system information as a txt file. Share that whenever you ask questions

  • The long and short of it is, Vlad wanted to get me on a call to discuss what he felt were “misunderstandings” in my post. I declined. He pressed a bit with more argument, I explicitly spelled out that I did not want to hear from him again. His response to “stop emailing me” was to write me a big essay arguing with my post (kind of, I’ll discuss this more). I sent one more reply reiterating for him to stop emailing me, and that was it.

This to me more sounds like I have made up my mind to not like this guy or his product and nothing will change this. This is personal and even most of the issues being discussed are nit pickings at details and fights on being right or wrong on things that really don’t matter

  • Come on… this comes up every time Kagi gets mentioned anywhere. Someone is personally hurt by the CEO and is now in a crusade to spread bad karma about them.

As a product I really enjoyed Kagi for years and would still be my preferred search engine if I wasn’t switching away from US products and services. I am now using Qwant but honestly imo Kagi is pretty good and worth the money

  • So when I deleted my account a few years back, i hade a Firefox script delete all my posts and comments.

Then i created a ticket for support asking to apply my right to be forgotten, according tomy GDPR rights and also a written confirmation that my content would not be recreated after deletion.

They will play hard but just say that you then will need their official information such as conpony name, adress, phone number, email, reg number and preferred communication method for your local data authority to contact them.

  • I’ve passed it over to my local pc store and asked them to troubleshoot the hardware. I’m pretty sure that it is the psu as it was replaced half a year ago for doing more or less the same thing. Maybe something is breaking my psu
