  • Indeed. Try making something with Symfony and you’re going to have to adhere to strict theoretical guidelines that encourages you to write 200 10-line files, for a simple application. Use Drupal and well, you’re going to spend ten years just to understand how it all works on that pathetic joke, use laravel and as opinionated as it is, it’s probably going to make a lot more sense to you in ten months time.

Unless, you want to do something in the database other than basic CRUD. That’s when ugly hacks are needed.

I’ve just re-discovered ollama and it’s come on a long way and has reduced the very difficult task of locally hosting your own LLM (and getting it running on a GPU) to simply installing a deb! It also works for Windows and Mac, so can help everyone.

I’d like to see Lemmy become useful for specific technical sub branches instead of trying to find the best existing community which can be subjective making information difficult to find, so I created !Ollama@lemmy.world for everyone to discuss, ask questions, and help each other out with ollama!

So, please, join, subscribe and feel free to post, ask questions, post tips / projects, and help out where you can!

Thanks!

  • Some questions and because you don’t actually understand, also, the answers.

    • what does the LLM understand the context of, (other user’s data owned by Twitch)
    • How is the LLM fed that data? (You store it and feed it to the LLM)
    • Do you use Twitch’s data and its users data through an AI without their consent? (Most likely, yes)
    • Do you have consent from the users to store ‘facts’ about them (You’re pissy, so obviously not)
    • Are you then storing that processed data? (Yes, you are, written to a file)
    • Is the purpose this data processing commercial (Yes, it is, designed to increase viewer count for the user of this system - and before you retort “OMG it helps twitch too”… Uhm no, Twitch has the viewers if not watching him, watching someone else)

I mean yeah, it’s a use case, but own up to the fact that you’re wrong. Or be pissy. I don’t care.
