So I want to block hexbear.net. I see it’s in the instance blocked list. However I still see their communities on community search. HOWEVER, I also can’t block them from my profile, it doesn’t give me the option. Known bug? User Error?

1 yearRE: The biggest problem about this is the API definition. Libraries have APIs. But in a completely different way, webservers have APIs. If I say “we are going to a conference on API’s” what do you hear? That we are going to talk about REST, GraphQL, or gRPC, or web server APIs of some type. This is common phraseology. However, one time I was invited to such a conference, and it ended up being about C# design philosophy.
In that way API is an adjective (REST API, C# API, …) AND a noun (webserver API). That’s a problem.
And as an adverb, there is some justification to replace it with Library and others (REST Endpoint, C# Library)
Because otherwise all public functions are API’s, which doesn’t seem necessary to me. Saying a Library has an API is somewhat redundant. Saying a server hosts an API is not, many servers run jobs or databases. Many websites don’t host APIs. Etc.

People conflate classical liberalism and neoliberalism all the time.

1 yearMy one other media type is “the cloud”.
I use hard drives, I can’t imagine trying to put something on a disk or something.
One thing I do recommend, I keep one unencrypted hard drive copy in the safest most hidden part of my house. This is in case encryption software disappears, or I just forget my encryption keys or something.
Other than that, one encrypted copy of files in a thumb drive in my wallet (selected files, not everything). One in my car. One in my firesafe. Then daily cloud backup.

1 yearI’m currently not of the mindset that the left and the right can continue to have democratic respect for each other. We are at war. Power no longer is not about legitimacy, but about victory. Norms and rule of law are clearly over. An insurrectionist isn’t even constitutionally allowed to be president. Nothing is sacred.
So it’s not really about if they have the power or not, we need to be focused on getting power back and preventing mass death and slavery of the working class. And we won’t get that power back via the system as it exists, because it’s been captured.

1 yearTBH, I find the search feature on the block instances on your profile tab useful, HOWEVER, it shouldn’t require the instance to exist or show up in search. It should let me put in any string. Just in case search is broken somehow.
I just don’t know what blocked means then. It looks like I can see hexbear communities, probably comment on the, and even subscribe to them. But I guess they can’t comment in programming.dev communities or see our stuff?




Huh, I’m the opposite. I wipe all my info every year just to prevent being tracked. If I want to remember something I save it to my note taking app.
