An AI that could perfectly produce what the dev desires would not lead to this innovation from constraints.

I’d imagine people care more about a cohesive visual direction than they care about “pretty”. A lot of AI art already captures what an average jane would probably consider pretty, in a shallow sense. It just isn’t cohesive and its morally bankrupt beyond that so it gives people the big ick

Part of that discovery process is so valuable to the charm. “I don’t know how to do art! The fuck is this shit! How do I 3d model? I guess that works, it’ll do. Hey actually it’d be kinda cool if I based the general aesthetic of the game around this kinda look.” Boom, unique art emerging from their constraints. They had to work to get there, but their work is infinitely more artful as a result

I didnt “get” yooka laylee. I played like 1 or 2 hours and I was just deeply bored compared to something like a hat in time or odyssey - is it just a slow starter?

Pseudoregalia has the same endless space for skill expression in the movement - the platforming is deeply satisfying and scratched a very similar itch for me!

As others mentioned, A Hat In Time is delightful and has similar room for skill expression

Celeste is 2d but the single best platforming game I have ever played. Its movement system is so, so satisfying and deep

You might enjoy Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - its a ton of fun, but a slight sideways shift in genre

I also found Cavern of Dreams pretty delightful as a cute 3d mascot platformer

I would be failing you if I didn’t mention A Short Hike - it’s short, as its name suggests, but it is an absolute blast

I typically most enjoy emotional, narrative experiences. Think Heart of the Woods, To The Moon, In Stars and Time, etc

Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree - I agree that there are people misusing the words ironic/unironic, I don’t think this case is one of them. Have a good one!

To me, the original post was riddled with “verbal” irony - they were saying things whose words meant one thing but the overall post was actually making fun of the ideas the words were presenting.

My comment serves to state that I agree with the point the words are making and not the meaning through the lens of irony. Ie, unironically.

I respect the pushback though. I have similar gripes with “sarcasm” being used when “irony” is correct and vice versa.

Allowing children on roblox is negligence at this point so I think this is unironically in the right
