Gaming@beehaw.org•did you hear that Dr Disrespect tried to make a comeback the other day with a Deadlock stream?
2 yearsDocToPdf Disrespect was quietly banned from twitch, and then responded to allegations that he was sexting minors with “age of consent varies between states, what I did wasn’t even illegal and what even is sexting? This is just haters trying to ruin my day”
Correct, it’s supposed to be The Onion but conservative.
It’s hard to tell sometimes because conservatives suck at comedy.
Helping keep track of who to round up was very profitable for IBM, and it was for Facebook in Myanmar.
It was never a niche social network. In the beginning, Spez used sockpuppets to fake engagement, later on advertisers and state actors (In 2016, they forgot to scrub the bots from their statistics, and posted that Eglin Airforce Base was the most reddit-addicted city) generated engagement.
None of those even reference current games, they could all be repost bots reposting stuff from years ago.
The “Which era did you start playing video games” is missing the last 4 years of consoles.

World News@beehaw.org•Elderly Chinese rights lawyer who was tortured in detention is finally free after six years and six months behind bars
2 yearsDamn, that’s the kind of shit you’d expect in an American prison.

Lets just have 2 timezones, Chinese time and EST w/ permanent DST. The most populated timezones for Eurasia and the americas, and they’re both 12 hours apart, so nobody has to do timezone math, just swich AM and PM.

Reddit is american propaganda, not chinese, We even have a receipt (they forgot to scrub botted replies, note Eglin Airforce Base)
Given the amount of sinophobia Reddit tolerates, I cannot imagine how out of pocket you have to be to get banned for racism.

I feel like 3 kinda comes with the territory of politics. The sort of people who mod political forums have more rigid ideas of what ideas should prevail in the discourse than someone modding a board for embedded electronics, not that that’s an inherently bad thing.
It just feels worse because a greater portion of Lemmy is politics; here I’ve caught bans for being insufficiently pro-Kamala months after the election or not going along with a china bad circlejerk, but at reddit people catch bans for “John Brown did nothing wrong” or just posting footage from Palestine.
