the really shitty thermal paste - pack some Arctic Silver onto that bad boy and if you can -increase the heat sink size or type - I don’t know what kind of room you have to work with.

Linux@programming.dev•The end of Windows 10 is approaching, so it's time to consider Linux and LibreOfficeEnglish
1 yearGenerally though when you update Mint you won’t get bombarded with 20 UI changes and some AI crap and naggin and advertising and strong arm tactics to get you to use their cloud services.

1 yearI’ve been using Linux since 98 and never have I ever seen it in so many conversations. 18,000 windows games now run. Distros like Bazzite and the Steam OS are getting kids into Linux. My son… Windows die hard that he was just told me he is not only running Linux but has canceled all streaming services and is hosting his own server. There’s never been a better time to help people get into the fold.

1 yearIf you have a game that only runs on windows right click on it go to manage and chose compatibility then pick the latest version of proton and relaunch the game. To do it globally First, log into Steam using your login credentials. Then, click on “Steam” in the top-left corner, and select “Settings”. Go to the “Compatibility” settings, then locate the “Steam Play” section. Toggle on the “Enable Steam Play for all other titles,” choose the latest Proton version from the dropdown menu, click “OK,” and restart Steam. My whole library works.

1 yearI tried out Bazzite and was pretty happy with the out of the box gaming. Think I’ll consider it for the wife’s laptop when 10 runs out. Kinda torn about giving her a dual boot with LTSC 10 and Linux or just going full in because it’ll be me on the support end.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux isn't (just) better, it's also more FUN!English
1 yearIt’s fun once you get all your stuff working and know what you’re doing. Even then it can be a challenge at times. I started in 1998 with suse Linux and it was just a brag back then.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Got Permanently Banned from Reddit for Criticizing trump & edolf. Who Else Here for Similar Reasons?
1 yearWiped out my 13 years of posts and comments and deleted my account when they started this crap. I thought the day they killed old reddit would be when I left but I can’t stand by while they censor free speech. The site has been a shit pile for some time though and not even a ghost of what it was in the good old days.
I tried a Chrome plugin that had the limitation of 50 comments / posts a day but required money to do more. I had the day off, so I ended up doing it manually. Was a real trip seeing all the comments and stuff I’d forgotten about from all those years ago when Reddit was still a cool place and people were mostly cool.
They won’t get their heads out of their asses. This recent censorship caused me to delete 13 years of comments and posts and delete my account entirely. Good riddance.
13 years and change here and yesterday I did the deed of hand deleting my years of comments and posts - wiped out my RES settings - deleted my account and that’s it. Big time nostalgia going back through all those comments though,
I started deleting saved posts and comments today - planning to delete my account when that’s all done.
I see your point … Fear of retribution through the FCC is now a real thing. This is how it begins though - first they ban free speech and any dissent and then the ones that still stand up will be disappeared.
Every once in a great while the people of Reddit do the right thing and I’m proud of every one of them that took a stand. Even the BBC is calling it an awkward gesture and they aren’t owned by right wing billionaires in the US. Not ONE media news org here has called the obvious. Sanewashing. Wish I’d never heard the term.
They are far too stupid and disorganized to create.

Exactly like FB changing their algorithm so you no longer see friends life updates at all and now see spam, ai slop, and ads.
