Splendid! I have a laptop running Arch, and while I did set that one up manually, it was a lot of work. Next time, when I do it on my gaming PC, I’m definitely using Endeavour
Certified foxgirl enjoyer. Weeb, but hasn’t properly watched anime in ages. Gamer of incresingly niche subgenres. Aficionado of racecars, mechas, fighter jets, and any other vehicles you can think of. Lives in the wrong side of the planet compared to all my friends. Made way too many Fedi accounts

I’ve never even dared to make an account there to ask questions because they’ve always been toxic as fuck. And lately they’ve been going about pivoting to AI, after they sorta monopolized the “business” of answering questions on several subjects… They can go eat my ass with that shit and attitude.
Most of them have no idea what they’re talking about, and sometimes those who do, are making a video just for entertainment purposes or got paid (in getting a free game key) to not say anything too bad about it.
I hate that feeling of bouncing between things, or of just staring at my screen so much. So much. But when it happens, I am rarely able to snap out of it in the moment. It usually takes a few days and a mood change to fix it.
Real. Ever since I spent some time setting up good CRT shaders, playing retro games feels a lot cooler. They just give the best feeling and look pretty nice with them on. Sometimes for fun, I leave the shader on for regular Windows usage.
Wait, wasn’t this one actually kinda decent at being a CoD clone? Lmao. Ubisoft can’t get anything done right.
It’s the bit about RIPPING AND TEARING them to bits and rebuilding the Earth at the end.
There’s way too much stuff in there, but as of right now I think it’s Mechanicus, and the Serious Sam HD remasters, thanks to a recommendation in another thread just now. I also have a couple interesting demos I downloaded. The problem is, I haven’t played anything from my Steam at all in the past month or so. Everything I’ve been gaming has been outside of it.
Also hilariously, these Serious Sam games were the literal first games I bought when I created my Steam account and I never played through them. They were an impulse buy from a friend’s recommendation back in the day but I wasn’t as into boomer shooters as I am now.
There’s even launchers that do the work of the batch files for you! I like using Doom Explorer or Doom Runner for that. You set it up with your ports, point it at your wads folder and then you can save preset combinations of mods, it’s so practical.
I immediately sought out working backups of both Yuzu and Ryujinx. The “bright side” of this situation is that it pissed me off enough to go acquire both the new Zelda game that potentially caused this whole situation by being leaked early, and the game that was at the absolute top of my to-play list: Unicorn Overlord. So far it is looking like a fantastic game.
I’m thinking less bribe and “laughing away to the bank” and more of a “Nintendo threatened to ruin their life with legal fees if it wasn’t taken down”. The frivolity of said case is irrelevant when they just bully normal people legally like that.
well, good news is: it works. Bad news is, it borks my window manager. After so many attempts, I am forced to admit defeat. So, at least a few of my different methods that I tried did work, but with that comes a problem that my window manager does not want to run on my discrete GPU and then I get a bare desktop with no panels or proper windows.
Quake does launch correctly at that point but I rather have the rest of my DE actually function, and I did figure out how to set individual applications to launch on the second GPU. I’ll consider this solved for my use case… This combo of intel onboard graphics and AMD GPU was always my headache with this machine even in the times of windows.
I tried certain iterations of those, and the usual result is that my session fails to initiate. I’m probably doing that wrong.
The new Kex port is great for it’s accessibility for new players not used to the Doom sourceports scene, but I guess there’s still a few kinks to solve. I still end up preferring to play on my other sourceports (Woof! Is my favorite) but I gotta get back to it to actually finish Legacy of Rust later. At least this new port is MUCH better on the console versions now, if only the Switch version had proper access to the player uploaded addons…
In the meantime Ive been going through Freedoom 2, and I hear people are adapting the assets of the new mapping format into an open sourced version. Looking forward to that.
I was trying to figure this out until like 3AM last night. How do I set environment variables to be loaded into my X session when XFCE loads? I’m on Arch btw. I want to set DRI_PRIME=1 so that applications started from the launcher actually use the discrete graphics card by default. Right now it only works like that if I launch from the terminal.
I tried multiple potential config files to put it at, and the one time it actually worked, I lost my window manager… The other times, the desktop environment didnt even load or start the session. Undid everything and decided to come back later.
Well, over the past week I finished my second full Hard run of EDF6 with a modded class, and I updated several mods on other games. Got the updated Shutoko Revival Project on Assetto Corsa, the new Gran Turismo 4 Spec II, which I’m enjoying a lot, feels like a new game. And the Dawn of War Unification team pushed out a minor patch for the 20th anniversary of the series. I am also considering upgrading my old build of STALKER Gamma from late last year to the current one. My setup is working but they added a lot of new things since then that I want to check out, like new early game guns.

Yeah I checked it out, it was extremely lightweight, but I didn’t really like how it looked. I know it could be customized but if I was going to take that effort I might as well do it on an Openbox setup.
I’m on XFCE now, really enjoying it, as I should have done from the beginning.

Wait. Should you really do pacman -Sy for all of those? Won’t that cause problems? Shouldn’t it just be pacman -S <packages> or go -Syu?
Yeah except Palworld has joined Sony for their multimedia franchise, so potentially they can get a lot of monetary and legal support from that. Nintendo took way too long to actually do this frivolous lawsuit.
Let them fight.
I’ve been playing Doom again lately (as one does) but I really should take a detour through the other idSoftware games… especially this one
