What usually happens is some nepo-baby manager gets into an argument with the critical experienced employee. The employee gets “downsized” and his job is outsourced to a 3rd party.

Then they make it through a year without a major issue and the nepo-baby is promoted. 3 months later the completely avoidable catastrophe occurs and the nepo-baby claims “that didn’t happen on under my direction”. More scapegoats are laid-off or fired.

I have been working through deleting reddit comments. Then reddit repopulates them because they are hit by a Google search. So so I go through and delete them again.

When reddit blocked my favorite mobile app, I bailed. So I am now on connect for Lemmy. It works almost seemlessly now with a few bugs. It’s basically the same user experience as the old Tapatalk for forums that they made almost 20 years ago now. A good user interface is a good userinterface.

I for many years after that for large file transfers. Just set up a landing index page and a folder for the file in FTP to activate it. Then share the http address to file.

It was all old W98 laptop that I got used. I installed xunbuntu on it back when it first came out in 2006. It sat on my desk, open like that with a bit of tape over to hold the power cord because it was loose. The battery was completely dead.

It was the server I used to host all the modded maps I made for a silly little tank game. Thing ran seemlessly only going down when the power went out or somebody juggled the power cord for 5 years.

Fucking hell, I understood that. I have slipped and fallen into the dark side. Learn from my mistakes and turn back before you get to this point. There is no hope for me now.

That’s okay, we can reschedule the 1 of the 60 TFCV meetings about theupcoming 5 TPS meetings, that so we can be prepared for the 2 SMR meetings in 3 and 4 months, which is needed for the the BRM meeting in 6 months. I have a work phone and a personal phone. The work phone i answer calls from I known numbers all the time. My contact information gets passed around as part of my business. For a while I had scammers hitting my number 3-4 times per day. I answered and fucked with them every time. A little free stress relief through the day. Now I almost never get them anymore.

My personal phone I have always screened all the calls. It still gets hit with scammers 2-3 times per week.

I guess you are right. There is a list going around of numbers who waste their time.

Write a series of single query per e-mail.

Set then up on delayed delivery every hour through their workday.

It only takes once or twice until people read your entire e-mails.

I have been attempting to use Linux for 20 years now. It has found its niche used for me over the years. For example when my kids were toddlers they had a old machine that defaulted to PBSkids. Before that I used it to run a gaming server.

Currently I have a old laptop that I dual boot with win 10 and whatever Linux distro I feel like trying at the moment.

The win 10 on the laptop barely meets the minimum hardware requirements and takes 10 minutes to load.

I have tried a few different distros and always had a few issues with the setup. All sorts of different ones - screen orientation, WiFi connection, printer hell, keyboard layout etc. Takes me days to fix the bugs or give up.

Mint takes 2 minutes to load and so far is working seamlessly. It’s apt manager is the easiest I have used in a Linux distro. It found my network printer automatically. It runs smoother than windows 7 did on my laptop.

With Microsoft ending win 10 for the shitty win 11, I imagine many people are looking for alternatives. If Mint continues to work to make setup and usage easy, it will gain market share rapidly. It’s not all the way there yet, but it’s a hell of a lot better than before.

A long time ago I was the guinea pig/first user for a company developed system.

I often had my 1 year old at the time son with me when I worked on the weekend. He had a great time smashing buttons on the keyboard and randomly clicking the mouse on the test version. He found most of the bugs.

How the fuck to they dream up there numbers.

Last quarter they made 100 million from advertising revenue. Thats a maximum gross income of 400 million a year. Last year the same time they made around 30 million.

If they maintain the 100 million income revenue, that’s only 400 million per year. It will take 25 years to generate 10 billion gross income.

It impacted the quality of the site. However they don’t care about quality only about money or the appearance of making money.

They want is the investors to look at the site, see all the shitty ads, the number of claimed users and believe it’s worth pouring money into the IPO.

Never had good luck with anything netgear.

I have used Motorola’s and have never had one crap out on me. I just replaced my old 3.0 modem with the MB8611 and so far it is working flawlessly.
