  • A lot of the technology you use to connect over VPNs or over the Internet already addresses MitM. If it’s typo-squatted, you are sort of using password managers wrong. You do have the option of setting up TOTP elsewhere like on your phone authenticator so the point of failure isn’t on your side, I just think it’s sort of funny how easily you can make it be one.

  • Reddit right now is banning any criticism of ICE. Reddit covered up for Ghislaine’s account (maxwellhill), even though they’ve attended very public events with her as CEO Ellen Pao revealed, and they have narcissistic megalomaniac psychopath Jibberish (deliberately mistyped) who has trained decades on how to be the best psychopath they can be on social manipulation MMOs also heading and manipulating their “conservative” subreddit, who subscribing to also seems to be a flag within the system to begin showing you subs engineered to manipulate you with their messaging. Oh, and all the other non-conspiracy theory stuff, which there is plenty of.

Continue to remain on Reddit if you enjoy seeing all your effort, contributions, and communities you belonged to thrown to the trash if you inevitably piss off the wrong admin when they are high / pissed off.

  • It could seem to be a possibility from the perspective of OP. Once they ban any account, they usually flag the rest of accounts. They’ve been implementing browser fingerprinting to avoid the ease people had switching over to other account by switching IPs and clearing out account information. They are willing and have even encouraged people to have alt accounts, but the moment they piss off the admins, those alts are just “ban evasion”.

When they do ban, they don’t need much of a reason, they just cite blanket community guidelines, and the only recourse is a review process they can just tell you they reviewed themselves and found they did nothing wrong. It just has to catch their eye in some place they care about. A popular one is protesting or making any comment critical against Israel in the worldnews subreddit.

The admins are willing to do a lot of shitty stuff on the backend - sort of happens when you appoint a CEO who edited user comments without consent. Unlike other CEO’s like Elon or Mark, they are much smarter about it and are aware that if they do it en masse they are going to piss people off. That they can be that much more of a calculating psychopath just makes them that much more dangerous in my book.

They’ve recently shifted from promoting large subreddits into the propaganda bubble slop farms the rest of the social networks are doing. If you want to experience it, join up on some new device and subscribe to a sub like conservative. Sites like reveddit no longer work, you are just asking for it if you main reddit. They even have AI profiling users automatically now. Expect to have a voice, as long as it follows the circlejerk they lead you to follow. Otherwise, expect to be Nosedived between shadow bans, silent comment removals, and the possibility of an eventual ban.

  • They just don’t give a shit anymore, they basically toppled down the world order that at the very least claimed to care.

It also doesn’t really matter because Reddit has gone from trying to create centralized subs to doing the thing of putting everyone into their own cattle processing bubble. Try creating a new account and subscribing to the conservative sub if you want to experience how far to the side the rabbit hole goes. This is why young people are getting radicalized, their parents have no clue how their social networks are radicalizing them because they are getting a very different experience than them.

Incidentally and seriously, a few days ago I tried doing account recovery to the outed Ghislaine Maxwell email on reddit to see if I could get a confirmation whether she had had an account on reddit or not. Unfortunately, the page was fortified against that sort of account presence checking vector, I just find it funny that it seems to have coincided with her return to worldnews - I doubt I was the only one to try it. I also tried to access the account with some of the passwords that had been leaked.

Previously, a person who had claimed to work in the legal field had claimed ownership of the account in internal conversations and had denied being Ghislaine Maxwell. Which makes sense, her lawyer’s are not her, and they acted in about the same way legal representation wanting to keep things undercover would act. She also attended the same events in Silicon Valley as reddit CEOs did, like Ellen Pao revealed. There’s also a lot of work showing the coincidences between the posting / comment frequency and real life events Ghislaine Maxwell attended, and comments that were at least apologetic to pedophiles.

After trying to recover her account, it’s the first time I ever got an account really shadowbanned and confirms that they’ve either begun to implement more stringent browser fingerprinting on their end (sessions were different but on the same machine and no browser obfuscation was present) or that they already have had it for quite a while but only seem to care to track them in certain cases. The account itself was rather new and benign, having tried to play nice avoiding controversial takes, so no cares given.
