4 monthsI just hope smaller sized drives become cheaper. The word “hope” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

5 monthsQuick question, when hosted plan says up to 50 people, is that you can add 50 people to remember or 50 people can access one database?
Man, I just remembered my little old music player, maybe I could find it again.
I like this joke better:
Wife asks her husband if he is too obsessed with his work and if he even he loves her anymore. He assures her that in a list of things he loves the most, she is number 1 on that list. She was satisfied with the answer.

What about using Intel ARC GPUs for encoding as they are all kinda made specifically for it, I don’t use jellyfin but I got an Intel ARC B310 Eco used for like $45.
Looking at current prices it seems like it’s around $120 now, was cheaper last year, but I still recommend looking into Intel GPUs.

7 monthsI bought 10tb refurbished drives for $65 ea last year, this year, same ones cost me $140 ea.
These are drives from 2017-2018 mind you. I know drives should start failing soon at some point, but that is why I have raid and weekly replication to a second server.
Let’s just hope something new comes around that will make current year drives cheaper in the near future.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Looking for a relatively cheap camera systemEnglish
9 monthsI will say, even WiFi cameras need power run to them, and I’m glad my days are over for running around on a ladder every week changing out the batteries for my mom. Running PoE makes life easier in the long run.
Even the camera that came with its own small solar panel sucked. Camera would drain battery faster then it would charge, shutdown when low, and slowly recharge back up, but you still need to climb up to turn it back on.

Nvm, found it on the site:
Pinepods has it’s own gpodder server that’s a switch flip in settings to start using, it also supports external gpodder servers like opodsync or Podfetch, and it supports Nextcloud gpodder sync - your choice.

Sorry I haven’t looked into your project before but I currently use AntennaPod with Nextcloud Gpoddersync, could I plug PinePods into Nextcloud or does it only work with the Pinepods docker server?
Well well well, how the turned have tables, they have

Man, I hate my moms pc folder layout, like why do you have Documents folder inside of documents folder inside of Documents folder? Why do you create excel sheets inside Downloads folder when you didn’t download them???

1 yearYeah setting it up the way you want is a pain, but I like it mainly for backing up photos from my phone automatically, as well as, syncing podcasts and music between devices since I moved away from Spotify and start using things like AntennaPod and Gramophone
I got 20TB in my server, might as well use it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•When building a home server, could a used/cheap PC do the job?English
1 yearIts less of a need for powerful hardware and more of a want.
I started off my days with a laptop that had a broken screen. I took screen off and hid it behind my desk, worked perfectly fine, even came with a built in backup battery too xD
