Also, the bots like this are just mimicking astroturf accounts that always existed. Likely even trained on them.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Clawdbot farm owner shares his bots have a 0.5% ban rate so far on reddit
4 monthsSuch an inefficient way to astroturf. Just copy old comments and markov-chain basic shit. Reddit has been mostly bots for years and years.

You just explained how it is a problem inherent to most LLMs. Most spammers aren’t able or willing to train a model.
Every large hosted LLM drones on and on. It helps them land on the correct answer more often. And they always return to the mean of their training even with prompting. Try telling a model not to reply with “Sure thing!” or some other shit and it’ll do it anyway. Far easier to just cut that shit out.
LLMs ramble unless you stop them forcefully. That can lead to partial sentences that need to be cleaned up.
Think it’s probably a bug in the script they’re running. It’s cleaning one character too many off the end.

Reddit@lemmy.world•I'm pretty sure Reddit admins are silently censoring people who discuss the Trump/Zelensky interview.
1 yearSure, now. But it was made to circumvent bots. To increase the amount of trouble it is to spam. Don’t know what you’re trying to argue here.

1 yearThe point of shadow banning is to waste the time of bots.
Ask about that woman who was running AMA until they shitcanned her and ran it into the ground. Also, ask about that CEO they hired years ago who’s sole purpose was to be the scapegoat for tons of unwanted changes.
Mature accounts with some activity are worth money to people looking to AstroTurf political discussions.
YOU COULD JUST LEAVE??? WE HAD TWO RENT IT THREE TIMES IN A ROW TO BEAT THAT TUTORIAL!!

Reddit@lemmy.world•Did anyone else notice wierd subs hitting the front page before the API changes?English
3 yearsAm I ugly and rate me are old subs that die off and bounce back once in a while when people realize they exist. That seemed pretty normal to me, trends like that come and go quickly.
That couples meme shit was an odd one. What kind of people are sitting around making loads of memes about boomerhumour couples? Who does that? Memes are almost always niche or inside jokes, not this. This is a marketing company going “we need a subreddit that focuses on happy millennial couples so we can slyly push products there” and coming up with something so…bland.

May not have worked this time but there are plenty of cowards.
Also, feel’s like at least one harasser was an ai agent? Or maybe I’m seeing ghosts with that bullshit everywhere. We are so cooked.
