Why not use the tailnet address? There’s an option that gives you random words instead of an iPhone address and it works very well, at least for me. i I mean you still need to know the port but it’s less to remember. As for dashboard I use Homarr.

1 yearhow technical are you?
You could probably use Notion as a backend and use Potion.so to make the website. Another route is Webstudio + a CMS like Hygraph or Strapi if you want to self host it.
I think this might even be doable on Ycode or Webflow.
At the end of the day what you want is a database with all the products and a relations between each other based on their features.

1 yearI don’t know enough about programming to do it myself so I like to look at what the community says. This is one thing we’re AI could be very helpful no?
It has the most insane user tracking you can imagine given how hard it is to evade bans. The system will literally flag you as a possible ban evader through your behavior only. So not even having a VPN and a new device can hide your identity completely. You have to act different to throw the system off.

1 yearYes I do that, and it does help me a lot to understand what I’m doing it’s just I’m a top down type of guy. Like I don’t like messing with anything unless I fully understand it, which often makes me very unproductive. I decided to not be that way with this self hosting thing because I realized I would never get around to it with that mentality. Better to break shit as I go.

1 yearYes this happened to me as well, I don’t remember what I was talking about but I remember I made a typo and it just ran with it as if it was a real thing. I let it keep going to see if it ever realized it was talking about something that didn’t exist but nope it kept going until I pointed it out.
I ask for it to explain what the command did and I did manage to wrap my head around a few concepts but in the end I feel like I’m trusting it to not insert any vulnerabilities into the system, and I don’t like that. Mistrust is the whole reason I’m doing this. But yeah I’ll pay close attention and maybe even ask all the implications of he changes we make.

1 yearI know next to nothing about using the command line, so I’ve been relying pretty heavily on ChatGPT to set my stuff up and so far it has reliably helped me overcome every issue. The problem is, of course, that I often don’t even understand what the issue was in the first place so I don’t even know if the fix that the ai spits out is, let’s say, correct. I don’t really want to become an It expert, I just want to be able to host some services on my own to depend less on corps, is it alright if I continue to rely on the AI? Or do you guys think that I just have to learn this stuff or else I might mess up?
I don’t have great security concerns btw, my ISP doesn’t allow port forwarding, so I access my server exclusively though Tailscale.

1 yearI mean, the rules say that encouraging violence is not accepted. Whether the violence is justified or not does not factor here, it still is encouraging violence so the ban is appropriate.

1 yearI have a theory about us returning to our natural state as our end game, but I haven’t put it down to paper yet. That being said, for now, it’s either all the good things industrialization has brought (along with the bad of course) or we return to the short brutish lives we lived before agriculture.
Anarchy at this point has no real way of being implemented without another state forming the moment we decide we can do better than die short tragic lives.

1 yearIf might makes right a state will end up forming anyways. A populist commune is still a state. Anarchy is not possible in any sense of what one might describe as a functional society. As soon as there’s a society a state will form.
But that’s also not how chimpanzee society works anyways, since mostly it’s an alpha challenged by a younger stronger chimp who takes their place and makes sure everyone else follows the rules. They even have something like a police force.

1 yearI guess you can call it that but as I understand it bio-essentialism denies that society has any roles at all in shaping the individual. For me there’s obvious environmental pressures that force us to act a certain way in order to survive which in turn shapes us as individuals and our societies. Of course I’m talking back to the very first human societies, but all modern societies by necessity must trace their origins there. But at a certain point we started to add rules that are based on idealized humanity, divinity, which is in my view inherently hostile to human nature.
We are animals and we have no real way to discern instinct from rational. For all you know every “rational” thought you’ve ever had is actually just an instinct. How would you be able to tell that it isn’t? But that’s neither here nor there, my point is we need to form societies that are sympathetic to our biological realities, instead of societies formed on moral values sourced from anti-human religions or idealized human religions. We would be much much happier.
I know people don’t like these type of stances because they are sometimes used to exclude trans people, or to justify racism but that’s just using science to arrive at the wrong conclusions.

1 yearHow would you reach consensus between hundreds of millions of people?
Look, I am sympathetic to the cause behind anarchism but it doesn’t work because it insists on ignoring biological realities. We need to look no further than our ape cousins to see how some hierarchical structure is inherent to our society. Only through the existence of a state can we reduce hierarchy and increase equality.
A stateless society wouldn’t last 10 minutes before establishing a state.

This is 100% not the advice you are looking for, but if you don’t need the service to have a domain I would consider just using Tailscale. It’s pretty damn good.
