I’ve been running Ubuntu Studio for almost a decade, but I’m pretty fed up with it. Maybe I’ll switch to Arch. I dunno. Having a turnkey media production distribution was handy. It did audio well. But with pipewire, that seems redundant now.

Neither should Windows itself. But here we are. And have been for some time.

Linux@programming.dev•Why Flatpak Won and Snap and AppImage Didn't. - Cameron Knauff
4 monthsFlatpak is a central repository where an application is installed in a sandbox and cached. It can be updated from that central repository.
Snap is a mounted filesystem containing a repository and is stored locally. It is not sandboxed. It cannot be updated in part but is overwritten in whole. It is distributed by individual app maintainers, not a centralized repository.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Sound Off: How many 10+ year redditors have left the site?
3 yearsI remember when Reddit was run on LISP out of spez’s bedroom in Somerville. Before it had subreddits. Before it had accounts.
Fuck spez and fuck Reddit.

Aaron was instrumental in rewriting Reddit from spez’s half-baked lisp prototype to python. And that was before python hit it big. Kn0thing can’t code and neither could spez. Without Aaron, reddit would never have scaled.
