Hmm I’ll try that. Mine are all alphabetical and definitely not in the order that I signed in with.

This has been bugging me too. I think it goes in alphabetical order which is frustrating.

Sync for Lemmy@lemmy.world•Over a quarter of Lemmy users use Sync (based on a poll)English
3 yearsWhy would the time of day change what apps people are using? Same with how long the poll was up? Neither of those factors have any relevance to the topic of the poll.

3 yearsThat’s really not a valid argument for 99% of users. I’m not going to fork FOSS software because I’m an adult and have a full time job. I don’t have the time to learn about the inner workings of the software to fix it. Most users are less tech savvy than myself, anyways. Saying “just fork it and fix it to your liking” to the average person is not realistic.

3 yearsOh no! Someone wants compensation for their labor?? The horror!
Love having that available! Could you add a search bar in the list, though? It’s kind of difficult finding specific instances sometimes.

Sync for Lemmy@lemmy.world•[Feature request] Handling accounts in multiple instances.English
3 yearsMigrating account instances is still a work in progress, I believe. Should be possible with ultra eventually.

3 yearsI guess you could make another account on that instance. You can also change the default instance when browsing from the Anonymous profile.

3 yearsHey, you’re entitled to your opinion. I think it’s fair to say that most people here in the official sync community are going to disagree with you about it being a bad app. As for the FOSS philosophy, I genuinely don’t give a fuck. Cool that there are lots of FOSS alternatives but I like LJ and sync and have no issues supporting him. Nice that there are lots of options for different people.

LJ has a 10+ year reputation. Some people want to support him and pay $100 but no one has to. You keep shifting goalposts which is why you think I’m not meaningfully engaging lmao. Alright I’m actually out. I’m just repeating myself at this point.

this could’ve started with a regular ass subscription price to get rid of ads
There is… Do you even know what you’re talking about? The price to remove ads perpetually is $20 with perpetual ultra being $100. Ultra can also be bought for $2/mo or $17(ish?)/year subscriptions.
Look, some people don’t have an issue paying money to support the dev and the development of the app. You clearly don’t which is totally fine! There are tons of different options available. You don’t have to like sync or the pricing model but talking down on people who do is absurdly stupid.
This conversation is so unproductive I’m out.

Dude’s gotta eat. There’s less of a market than sync for reddit had.
- 3 years
The price increase is there because enough people can justify paying for it. I’m not sure why it’s so confusing for you to understand that. Idk man… If you don’t think it’s worth it, don’t buy it.

Most people spend more money on things that they get less out of. Sure, $20 is a lot compared to many other smartphone apps but you could also easily blow the same amount, if not more, on lunch or something like that. If you like the app and intend on using it, spending $20 to support the dev really isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. I do understand that with exchange rates, the equivalent to 20 USD in many countries is prohibitively expensive but LJ said he’s working on regional pricing.

That’s one of the big things I’m hoping will be implemented. Not sure how feasible it is to include support for every instance, though. Hopefully all the major ones cataloged on the lemmy site are possible to do.

It’s a lot for an app, but it’s something I use for a couple hours a day so it was honestly a no brainier for me. The initial cost is higher than a lot of apps but when I look at how many thousands of hours I got out of sync for reddit, the price evens out. Just something to consider.

You can block instances through the filter menu.
Settings shortcut: Filters > Instance filters
I do agree that it would be nice to be able to block instances/communities/users from the post, though. Jerboa has this feature available when you hit the three dots on the post and it was a really convenient QOL thing.

I’m subscribing to Ultra anyway, but with Sync for Reddit, I always enjoyed the option to fall back to “Pro,” if I let my subscription lapse.
So your a previous sync user? Something that made me pull the trigger was remembering just how much time I spent using sync the past couple years. I had a shitty chain restaurant burger earlier today for about $20 that I regretted. I think spending $20 on an app that I use for a couple hours daily is well worth it imo.

It’s still crazy to think just how quickly lemmy grew and how recently still. Software development takes a lot of time but it’s nice to know that the devs are chipping away at some of these major issues.
