Now I’m starting to think that getting banned from reddit and them not telling me why and instantly denying my appeal was just a test. What a garbage website and moderation.

I made my Lemmy account the day I got reddit banned. So the age of this account is how long ago they nuked my accounts lol

I wouldn’t hold your breath. From what I can tell you and I are cooked for good. Oh well.

I had two fairly old reddit accounts (10+ years and 100s or thousands of comments and post karma) get nuked without them giving me a reason. They just said I broke TOS. I appealed and asked what rule I broke and it was instantly denied. I still have no clue what rule I allegedly broke.

I tried making a new account with a different email on a new device using a new Internet connection and it got banned after 30 minutes.

Fuck reddit. Banning people and never giving them a reason or a chance to correct their mistake (if they even made one) is ludicrous.

You can see when Snapchat decided the redesign their entire app and then I stopped using it entirely for the rest of my life lol.

See I would have no problem with that but the other people living in this house would have a lot of problems with that. Namely the women. I know for a fact me and the other guys would prefer it but the ladies would never green light something that “ugly” lol.

Yeah at some point you just say fuck it and limp along until the problem is big enough that it’s time for a completely new house or you move.

In our situation it’s one of those things where it just doesn’t seem worth it to properly address because if we are gonna have an electrician cut a bunch of holes in our walls to redo all the wiring we may as well have a plumber cut a bunch of holes in our ceiling to insulate all the pipes they installed in the ceiling crawl space without any insulation. And if we have them cutting holes in every wall and every ceiling we may as we lost have them tear the whole goddamn house down and start over properly lol.

Eh. I kinda miss the more specific subs that don’t exist here. Mostly for specific video games or software. I also enjoyed answering the many many questions people would ask on certain subs. Often times it led to people DMing me and I enjoyed those conversations. Especially the ones where I helped someone get over something or work though something. Idk I like helping people.

And less important…the porn account had years and years of fantastic and specific things I had found over the years on there. Lemmy’s porn library is miniscule by comparison.

I don’t know if I agree on the Lemmy portion lol. I will readily admit that I definitely deserved a few of those bans but the rest were completely made up by an angry mod or automated because they saw I was regularly being downvotes (again no differing opinions allowed in most places it seems).

I think moderation on a site like this is difficult no matter what. Reddit has the problem of something like 6 people having ultimate say over the entire site with absolutely zero way to contact them or anything. Then the individual sub moderators are some of the moth pathetic power tripping bottom feeders known to mankind. I got banned from subs for leaving comments criticizing other subs that they hated. Simply for leaving a comment on that sub they didn’t like (which I was also not a fan of) they automatically banned me from a handful of other subs immediately lol. So stupid.

Lemmy has the same issue with individual moderators being ban happy losers that will just make up a reason for a ban instead of allowing an opinion they disagree with to be seen. But at least there aren’t a small handful of people here who can ban you from the entirety of the platform (unless I am mistaken and they totally can).

That’s the best part. It’s not in the kitchen. My room is on the complete opposite side of the house. Literally the furthest room from the kitchen.

Whatever drunk moron wired the house back in the 70s did so in such a confusing manner that electricians give us the “fuck no I’m not fixing that” price when we ask them what it would cost to sort out our completely nonsensical wiring. I think the last guy we talked to quoted us 30k and he pretty much flat out told us nobody will ever want to unfuck our house.

I got a UPS cause the breaker to my room likes to trip if I am gaming and someone in the house decides to microwave something for 10 minutes. My desktop, three monitors (2x1080p 60hz + a 1440p 144hz) and my 3d printer all running at full tilt will suck my 1500w UPS dry in about 2 minutes lol.

If I’m not gaming and say just watching YouTube while not 3d printing anything that same UPS can run for almost 15 minutes.

Certainly has the vibes of something like when they finally caught the pirate bay guy and then the FBI or whoever it was kept the site up just to track users who didn’t get the memo that it was compromised.

I got permanently banned on both my accounts from the entire site for “violating reddit TOS”.

When I submitted my appeal asking what I was banned for they immediately responded saying that my appeal was denied, but still never told me what rule I apparently broke.

10+ year old account with hundreds of thousands of post and comment karma. I was top commenter on several large subs. I had helped tons of people with things over the years in DMs. All gone in an instant because one admin decided to go on a little power trip. And there is of course zero recourse as the user. You’re just gone.

Reddit has been a shit hole for a long time now.
