  • You aren’t reading the meme correctly. It’s not a connection, is a coincidence.

It just says a thing ,that uses 500 mb of ram per instance, had become an industry standard. That’s the happy face. Hey I created a thing for myself but it got used so much it became a standard.

The second face is like oh shit, I did not make this efficient with its memory usage but now it’s standard and ram prices are terrible so the thing that was sparking joy, is now kind of a problem because its flaws now actually matter

  • Also that it was requested earky if it was going to be submitted.

Seems like Linus is accusing them of doing it last minute because they wanted to take advantage of him being busy as an intentional strategy, as he said and they didn’t even submit a good offering.

That last bit kind of sounds up that he might have accepted in spite of his difficulty due to travel, but they also fucked that up and wasted a whole lot of effort.

This really seems like a public lesson for everyone else using this submission as an example of what he does not want other people to do and then proceeds to explain exactly how he feels about it.

It’s definitely a rant, did seem like it had a purpose to it beyond him just letting out a rant

  • Really easy to imagine that world to most people. Like me. Who inspite of using computers since my 386sx family pc, never got into software engineering.

I understand a little about it, but its just a name of a thing i dont know how to use lol

I just find it funny how its a kind of ignorance(for entirely understandable reasons)is bliss situation to me, but a horror to those who use it
