  • Don’t go into slack or discord unless you are able to access every possible chat room. People are weird, neighbors are wierded, neighbors online are absolutely toxic. Theonly alternative is that you have access of all chat logs in the app. Setting up mattermost on a vps would work, but I think there are better options for what app to use. Funny enough Next loud can do everything you want it to do, including slack-lile chat rooms, VoIP, email, contact management, cloud storage, web portal, and you still have access to the logs (in case something wrong happens).

  • How about… Neither.

I don’t think OP doesn’t know, but I feel like its been said multiple times here, so maybe op either missed it or has a use case where he still wants to use Plex.

I have a Jellyfin server and I don’t need to expose it to the internet. Look at all the posts and comments here about setting up a reverse proxy and to securely expose your server to the internet. But you can also just keep your server locked behind your firewall and only access your network using a self hosted VPN.

  • Ok, so it doesn’t exist because of the training data, couldn’t that be achieved by the self hosted users sharing anonymous training data? Or maybe sharing curated playlists to help the suggestions for others? I totally understand some may see it as a privacy concern, but since the ultimate privacy is becoming disconnected to everyone and everything, there might be a level of sharing that can be achieved where users could feel comfortable.

Note, I just woke up and this makes total sense to me right now, so don’t hate me please.
