Reddit@lemmy.world•Politically engaged Redditors tend to be more toxic, even in non-political subredditsEnglish
3 yearsThere’s a game series I play that just had a new version come out. It’s a silly puzzle game that you can just waste time with while doing something else.
The author does a little ‘story mode’ and this time they went through how they’re getting older and are starting to think of end of life stuff. I’m in a similar headspace myself really, though they’re a decade or so ahead of me. It ends with something about maybe that person with different political opinions was just born in a different place than you and you should take the time to listen to them.
I’m like, bruh… yeah, sure, that was okay back in the 90s. Have you looked at our current political space? Seriously, read the room
I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they’re just privileged and the things going on these days don’t effect them personally so they just have no idea what the hell they’re talking about.
Game is still good and the best one they’ve made so far, but damn was the end of that piece tone deaf af.

Reddit@lemmy.world•This got me banned from Reddit Event with u/Spez (Steve Huffman) LOLEnglish
3 yearsyou know you’re right when it makes any group angry enough to ban you.
Not really. If you say Hitler was right, or any of the myriad of other terrible statements you could make, and you get permabanned for it, you’re still wrong.

Sierra On-Line
King’s Quest is still one of my favorite series ever and the one they put out a few years ago was a great retelling. I cried at the end.

Well, I started just playing more my game backlog on Steam and finding other things to do that wasn’t scrolling the interwebs most of the time. I come here, sure, but no where near as much as I did on reddit, and I don’t comment here nearly as much as I did there either.

Because they have a different contract for work not covered by the current strike? That seems kind of a weird take, especially since they thought the strike did apply to them originally and they shut down for several weeks until the lawyers got together and said, oh no, you have a different type of agreement.
It’s not like they changed or updated their contract to become exempt. SAG just went, oh, your business doesn’t fall into the terms of the strike so you don’t have to strike with the rest of us.

Yeah, we know WotC suck, but Larian is behind the game and they paid for a license to use the system and lore.
So why should we be pirating from Larian? Because they bought a license for a product?

3 yearsHaven’t community points been a thing for a long time? I recall you used to be able to buy/donate points to your community to open up features (like getting to post emotes in replies, which is just aggravating more than a ‘perk’, and ensured I never participated).

3 yearsGiven how much time I spent on Sync with Reddit, I imagine the ultra one-time price ($99) will end up being a dollar per hour in a few months and just go down from there.
A dollar per hour for entertainment is generally a good deal to me.

3 yearsI used Jerboa as my stop gap until Sync came out.
It’s fine, but I have at least 8-9 years of muscle memory and use with Sync. Jerboa was never going to compete with that.

It’s the kids. Kids take a lot of time. Most folks our age with kids don’t have any time to themselves until it’s 9/10 at night, then still have chores & work the next day.

3 yearsIs this where I comment about two broken arms?
I have subs where I had some posts/comments deleted and others not. (I know because I was the originator of the post, which was deleted, but some of my comments in it were not removed).
I have comments spanning and wide swath of time still floating out there.
Fun times.
I’ve been googling my username and find comments still around that aren’t on my profile.
Every few days I go through and manually scrub. It’s the main reason I haven’t deleted the account.

To me, it’s not the AI data that’s the issue. It’s reddit, effectively, turning off all of the API, then selling the data they aren’t producing themselves. I think if any instance owner told their users they were going to start selling things that were posted to their instance, their users would find other places in the fediverse to set up shop.
