It is way more work to provide value than it is to bribe the regulators to agree that you provided value.

1 yearThis is your brain on American exceptionalism. It’s kinda funny when people think an organization that practices war crimes across the world wouldn’t do so at home. I’d love an explanation about how Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay happen when soldiers would never follow an illegal or immoral order.
Police kill Americans every day. The National Guard has killed Americans before. Maybe the military won’t be called in to kill Americans, but I think people saying “The military would never kill Americans” really mean “I would never kill Americans”. American citizens were killed by drone strike without anyone batting an eye.
How many right wing militiamen are ex military? Does anyone really believe there are no White Supremacists in the military? Probably most of the military wouldn’t fire on Americans, but anyone who thinks there are zero service members just itching to murder people needs to read more history.

America has always had an anti-intellectualism streak and it’s become 3000 miles wide.
You know those cute stories: “Kids solve problem that the experts couldn’t handle”. They’re propaganda. The paper left out that the kids’ solution wasn’t economically viable, and the dumber among us walked away thinking the “white coats” didn’t have enough “common sense”.
