I mean the alternative is to be like octopi, intelligent but forever stuck in the beginning of the stone age due to a lack of ability to aggregate and accumulate knoweldge over time.

But that’s the strength of society to begin with, no one person knows how any given complex system works because its impossible for one person to know, we come together in specialised groups to create these systems over time with the collective knoweldge of many people.

Aren’t like half of those bullet points positives? Also in addition to what you said once you got a tree you got a tree, those tanks need constant maintenence and cycling which I doubt anyone is going to bother with for more than a year after installing them.
Honestly I think that isn’t an issue with any one platform so much as it is one of the biggest successes of the extreme right. By being obnoxiously loud, openly self contradictory and everywhere in the media the extreme right has succesfully portrayed themselves as being representative of the entire right wing. This leaves the moderate right isolated, less likely to co-operate with the centre or left on issues where they might agree, and more likely to embrace the extreme right.
TLDR: Firehose of falsehood works even better when it splashes on the guy next to you.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The difference between programmers and testers
1 yearCan confirm, not even an official tester (just an open beta tester) and have acrued a reputation for having a legendary bug aura that can cause catastrophic and previously unseen edge cases to occur just by opening the software (game)
I can never get past the geoguesser part

On the other hand in certain applications you can replace a significant amount of programming ability with a good undertstanding of vector maths.
My personal issue with github is more the placement of the actual download links, sometimes its harder to find than the real download button on a dodgy pirate site without ad-block.

People won’t believe me that windows is an absoloute dumpster fire, sure it works most of the time but when it doesn’t it quickly becomes apparent how much the whole thing is creaking edifice built atop pretty much every past version of itself. I could do a whole rant.

Its early adoption problems in the same way as putting radium in toothpaste was. There are legitimate, already growing uses for various AI systems but as the technology is still new there’s a bunch of people just trying to put it in everything, which is innevitably a lot of places where it will never be good (At least not until it gets much better in a way that LLMs fundementally never can be due to the underlying method by which they work)
