The thing that got me to finally switch and not even look at reddit anymore was when any content that was even slightly political had more shadow banned comments than those that were not.

Its so much easier to jump ship to another ship than a whole other platform though. on top of that the instances rely on community support to run past a certain size.

I’m a huge fan of Lemmy’s public mod logs. They are crucial for keeping miderator action above board and if someone is power tripping the evidence is there.

I left it cold turkey when I made my account and it really seems like it has just gotten noticeably worse since then.

I am much more liberal with the block on lemmy than reddit simply because I know that I will probably have to interact with the person again if I don’t block them. I dont think I ever blocked more than maybe 10 people in the entirety of my time on reddit. on lemmy I block basically everyone I just don’t want to hear from.

Oh yeah I agree that just getting a SSN is not a big issue itself but the fact that you can reverse engineer it from known information makes it not a very good security measure to prove identity.

You can reverse engineer a good bit of an SSN if you just have someone’s birth date and where they were born.

Finding an instance that fits you is also significantly more difficult than even mastodon too.
