I was still in that position last year so I get it. Saying I’d never go back if old reddit got shuttered. Don’t even really have advice because I think my disgust with the platform eventually became strong enough to override my* habitual urge to keep visiting reddit on the regular.

During covid an anonymous neighbor put an invite in my mailbox. Gave nextdoor a go. First thing I see is a lady posting about chem trails and an obvious scam ad for a used Honda Accord. Uninstalled same day.
I got myself IP range banned lol. Why? I think the comments that triggered staff initially was saying establishment Democrats are scum on worldnews. That’s all it took.
After that I kept making new accounts with various combinations of “spez” and “micro penis” while advertising Piefed everywhere and that pissed someone higher up off big time.
Piefed is way nicer to use than mbin, feature rich.
I’ve used all three mentioned. While I don’t like the lead Lemmy dev, I actually just like Piefed more it’s not just out of principal.
spez is shit enough without fabricating more shit. Being accurate is worse anyways: He was admin of jailbait. Still had admin access rights before his official return too.
That’s an oft parroted line yes. Back in the day (pre-2015 for clarification) subreddit mods could add you as a mod without your consent. That’s what happened.

If you absolutely must post on reddit for some activist reasons, buy some reddit accounts.
Your enemies already do anyways. reddit will lean towards status quo enforcement however and pissing into a sea of piss is poor time value.
