I don’t really get why people use any time other than ms/seconds since the epoch for anything other than displaying that time to the end user. Having time just be a single number with no time zone shenanigans makes writing logic like that so much easier.

2 yearsUgh, what a fucking shitshow. I know it won’t happen quickly or easily, but I’m hoping to see more people on federated platforms in the next decade or two. It’s the only way for us to take the internet back from these greedy bastards.

2 yearsDoesn’t that only happen on the mobile version? Either way, it’s stupid and annoying. Google should start de-ranking sites that add barriers to content, but I know they never will.

2 yearsLegally. OC stated that NewPipe doesn’t worry about legal threats because they scrape instead of using an official API.

2 yearsIs it any different for an “API”? I don’t think there’s a very big difference between an HTTP endpoint that returns HTML and an HTTP endpoint that returns JSON.

That’s interesting, thanks

I’m not a huge fan of Maven either. I guess I’m just spoiled by Cargo.

with all the suck taken out.
You still need Gradle, so not all the suck.
They can’t catch you if you hide it behind their router so they can’t see it.

Infinity works last I checked, it just gets rate-limited really hard, so it’s hard to read comments. You also can’t sign in anymore, so no more interaction.

Well the point of this post is to get a list of good languages, so it could actually be used to find new languages to learn.

I didn’t realize this was sarcastic and was getting ready to post about how broken it looks for me.

Well, you still usually have to use Gradle, so not all the suck.

Ugh, I hate when people use Python for that. It makes the application slow and power-hungry. The Matrix backend is a great case to look at for why Python shouldn’t be used for more than glue and scripting. It’s soooooo slow and they’re rewriting it in Go now.

Ooh, smart. They’re obviously not very smart, I wouldn’t be surprised if they straight up forgot to scan bios.

I don’t really remember SQL, does it prevent you from using a range of values? I can understand why leap seconds would be an issue.
