You are kinda right. People make posts similar to other popular posts all the time. Sort by new and you’ll see tons of low effort knock off posts trying to karma farm posting essentially the same things that are currently popular.

I think r/conservative has a rule that you need to have conservative opinions to post/comment there. Of course having “conservative opinions” is highly subjective. The mods there will ban you for any opinion they view as not conservative enough.

Too late, I have hacked op’s IP address, taken out several loans, and am now using his IP address to commit violent crimes.

Chances are it won’t help. Unless a mod accidentally hit the ban button. It’s easier for them to ban anyone close to breaking the rules than have to split hairs with things that might be breaking the rules.

A lot of subs gave “minimum karma limit”. It is supposed to stop spam accounts but it just stops new people from commenting/posting.

I think the main barrier to entry for Lemmy is having to pick an instance. For a lot of people that is confusing and they’ve never had to do it before. There are definitely people who would give up because they don’t understand what to do.

This and posts where every comment is deleted by the automod.

I absolutely hated auto-mods. I’d usually just give up trying to comment/post in a sub because I couldn’t figure out what subset of rules I was breaking while other people seemed to post the same thing with no issue.
