• Plasma is amazing and the thing that mostly bugs out on all my systems is SDDM by far, so this is totally the right choice.

  • I don’t know much about login managers, but I do know that SDDM has been a pain in my ass on more than one occasion and on more than one distro.

    • On old Plasma versions (Debian) the Lock Screen manager would crash pretty much every week until I upgraded to the latest release.

      • that role is usually not held by SDDM, though. I think that’s handled by plasma or kwin, but not exactly sure about that part

  • This is great to hear. Something I love about GNOME was the login / lock experience.

SDDM felt like shit when used with Unity, and with Pantheon, and with Plasma.

    Looking forward to its release.

  • There are only two reasons to use something other than xscreensaver:

    1. You need other input methods
    2. You don’t care about security
