Yeah, I had it installed on my work phone for a while - I got constant notifications about some popular posts, sometimes years old (“look at top post from $random community”) and it’d open just one of the top all time posts from that community

These don’t come through on old Reddit but I can’t even access it anymore because none of the 5 browsers I have will allow it anymore. They’ve just let all the security measures lapse (I’m sure entirely intentionally).

But I can’t prove anything since the app is gone now.
Reminds me of Robinhood WSB users.

No platform allows you to tailor your feed or notifications anymore. Notifications get pushed to your phone and pressure you to spend more time in the app/on the platform so they just send an obnoxious number of notifications. After you turn them off they just constantly make new categories or jam them into your “direct messages”. It’s so sad.
Joke’s on people who did not use a burner email for their Reddit account.

I disabled their notifications for recommended, and activity in posts I participated to. No need to get spam from there. And as I only post very little now (mostly answered my question myself…), I don’t get much of anything as notifications.
Tho I don’t uninstall the app as it still has some uses, tho I could use the Web version. But its not fast.

Yesterday Facebook decided to randomly turn on push notifications despite me having it turned off for years. I disabled Facebook this morning. I needed to get off it anyway and this was good motivation, after a week in which I was blocked from posting a NYT recipe because Zuck the cunt decided that’s news and Canadians can’t have news because the government decreed he has to pay news organizations for their content. Fuck you Zuck.
